A silkie chick hatched this morning under a broody, and when I got home this afternoon I found the chick alone on the floor peeping like crazy with mom eating and scratching the floor nearby. The chick was clearly distressed so I picked it up and found that both eyes are swollen shut and it has a gash underneath one eye. I held a warm damp cloth over the un-cut eye and it opened a little, I did the same with the cut eye and cleaned it up a bit with the cloth, it started bleeding again but seems like it has stopped now. Should I wipe it with hydrogen peroxide? Any other tips?
