I hatched 3 japanese bantam chicks out of 6 eggs.. 1 died and I have no idea why. It was perfectly fine and healthy until 2 days ago. It started cheeping non-stop, very loudly, wouldn't eat, it would drink water, poop was white, yesterday I found it very weak, could barely lift it's head, it was sleeping a lot, and at 4 A.M. I found it dead. Now another chick is cheeping loudly non-stop like the other one was, I don't know what killed my chick but I really hope it's not contagious. I changed bedding, disinfected/cleaned the brooder, and disinfected/cleaned food feeder and waterer. This is very disappointing for me.. I only have a Japanese bantam pair and I am trying to get more pullets or hens. I really like the breed because of their looks and personality, a dead chick doesn't look like a good sign to me.
