Chick down is black with silver tips all over body - genetics of this?

I've searched the forum and can't find this particular color combination. The parents are a BBRed Phoenix over a grayish (blue?) bantam EE. This particular chick has odd coloring that I've not seen before. The down all over its body, including head, wings and everywhere is black, but with the outer edges being silver. This is consistent all over. I am very curious about the genetics behind this color.

I did take pictures, but they are terribly blurry as I don't have a good camera.

well lets see.........

your black Breasted red phoenix is e+/e+(wiltype) bl+/b+(none Blue) looks like anyother black breasted Red bird out there, except with a long tail, this birds are called wildtype because they are(geneticaly) the closest birds to the actual wild Red Jungle Fowl, they are recessive to just about any other gene, including Extended Black(E) which is what your blue EE is most likely be... so any cross like this will result on birds that look like your EE(color wise)..

if you keep doing this cross you have 50% chance of getting chicks with black down(with silver tips) and 50% chicks with blue down..

the genetic make up of your chick is E/e+ Bl/bl+....

black chick down with some silver tips are the norm.. the only all black chicks I have seen are the Cemani type of birds...

Ah, ok. So when adult it will be a blue color, like blue wheaten?
