hey yall so I have this chick who is around three weeks old or more n he was doing just fine even though he has a scissor beak and one eye- everything was good but he got out of his cage and something attacked him I’m not sure if it’s a broken leg or dislocated but he cannot move it. The other leg is just fine he has a slightly large wound on his back but we disinfected it and put a powder on it but he seems really weak and that leg is really the issue here is there anything we can do or is it too late at this point. pls lmk

The leg might be broken or sprained, or the tendon injured. You could try resting the leg or possibly splinting with a lot of padding, something small and stiff on both sides and strips of vet wrap or tape. Take care not to get the wrap too tight, since it can cause more problems. Clean wound with Vetericyn, chlorhexidene, or saline and apply plain antibiotic ointment twice a day. What is wrong with his other eye? Do you have a way to isolate him near others? He needs to be in a chick chair or near food and water. Moistened chick feed can be easier for chicks with cross beaks to get enough food. His beak might be trimmed to help. With all of his problems, do you have long term plans for him?
