Okay so we had a Rhode Island Red roo for awhile and we hatched out some chicks at the time and got a barred rock from him and our barred hen. This chick ended up replacing the RIR and is now a year old (my baby Chester 
and we had some broody hens recently and threw a few of the eggs in our incubator as well. We got a few barred rocks but one has this terrible hoarse peep. Now we had a clutch hatch a few months ago also and another BARRED ROCK had this terrible peep. I know in-breeding is bad but it's not something we can help, we would have to get rid of are two BR hens. So is this ugly peep a result of in-breeding? This is 'son to mother' breeding and the chicks are in no way deformed or weak it's just their peep. Thanks.
