chick hatched - dried thing (((PIC)))

    Do I need to do anything with this? Will it cause pasty butt? It is the dried yolk I guess, but it hasn't fallen off...

    Rebecca, I've never had one do that from hatching but let the chick fluff up for awhile and just keep an eye on it, I'd say it will fall off. Watch the others don't start pecking at it, you may have to seperate it from them.

    Maybe someone else has seen that before but not I.

    I would separate the chick and wait a day or so. As things dry out it should fall off.
