My chick, 3 day old silkie has had a slew of health problems. Now, he/she bobs his/her head up and down when drinking water. He/she will drink throw her head back and start the up and down motion.

Is this chick by itself? I hope not. How many others are in with it? I have had a couple do this, only my silkies. Some have a bump on top of their head, and if it gets hit, so many things can go wrong. Another chick could have jumped on top of it, who knows. I always cull mine after a couple days of doing that because mine have never gotten better. I kept one hen like that and she ran into a fence every day, on purpose for some reason. It's like a mental problem. That's all I would suggest.

Oh no. Has anyone else experienced this? I am reading that it could be a crop issue?....

Since were dealing with a Silkie here, its most likely some kind of neurological condition (caused by a head injury) or vitamin deficiency. Vitamin E and Selenium or Poly-vi-sol w/o iron would be the first step I would take. Either way, the vitamins should at least help with the wobbling. This might be something you'll always have to deal with, with this particular chick, but it is manageable. I had a rooster that did it (caused by a peck to the head). He lived to be about 7 years old, and lived a normal rooster life. Good luck!

All of the chicks I've ever had drink the same way. They continue to do it as adults. All the chickens in the world that I've ever ever ever seen drink this way. No worries. But maybe somehow show us a video just in case? Keep us informed!
