I currently have 14 of my baby chickens housed together. Of those 14, 8 are a week old(5 white leghorns and 3 buff orps). The other 6(5 RIR's and a barred rock)are about a day or so old and only about half the size of the older chicks in their brooder. Would it be best if I housed the younger 6 chicks seperate from the older 8 or will it be okay if I just house them all together? I ask this because I'm worried that the older chicks might bully or compete for food with the younger ones. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  2. You should be alright with them together. One week is doable. You may have issues if you mix chicks greater than 2-3 weeks difference in age.

    wish you the best
