Chick pecking at other chicks eye?

I have two chicks and one keeps pecking viciously at the others eyes, what is the reason for this and what do I do?! I separated them for now but they're chirping like crazy and I don't want to stress them out I just don't want my one chick to peck the other one to death.

How old are they? Could be just establishing the pecking order. Literally!! You did the best thing by separating them. Anyway they can just have a divider? I have had to divide my hatchlings a couple times and they will sleep right up against the divider. More space will ease the issue. They will become interested in other things.
