I have twelve chickens that are three and a half weeks old. They were put into their 8 foot by 6 foot (48 square feet total) chicken coop last week. I had thirteen chickens and one was picked at so badly on the vent area that it killed him. I have two other chickens of the group that in a recovery area that were picked really bad on the vent area to where the feathers are gone and I sprayed an anticeptic spray on them to help it heal. Any suggestions of how to get them to quit from pecking the other chickens? I have watched from outside the coop to see if I can see the offender so I can isolate them and so far adn I haven't figured out who is doing it.

Any suggestions to get them from doing the pecking since they are only three and a half weeks old and I haven't got the Run built yet but I'm working on it.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I would say get that run built and give them more space ...are you using a light or not? Mine were picking at that age but then I gave them more room and it stopped..from what I hear if u dont get it nipped in the bud ur flock will become cannibals! Good luck!

No, I don't have a light inside the coop but I have windows on bth the North adn SOuth Sides of the Coop that lets plenty of light in during the day and it usually doesn't get dark until about 9:00 at night.
