At the risk of sounding dumb, I have to ask... What does "easter eggers" mean? I am new to having chickens, so don't know all the lingo.

cute. They grow so fast. mine are about the same age, but they run away when I come to the brooder. I think my 3 yo has put fear in them:lau I must say that when they are half fuzz and half feathers if so freaky to me.

cbrown86- Easter Eggers are a mix breed often mis represented as Araucana, Americauna, etc. They CAN lay blue/green eggs which is how they get the name Easter Eggers!

sueche, thanks! they do! they are in the teenage stage with not too much fluff left, but I still think they are cute!! The silkies are fun to watch grow up because they are getting FLUFFIER instead of the other way around! So fun!

Aw they are so cute! They are so funny when they are half fuzz half feathers! They are going to turn out beautifully I'm sure! I am getting a golden laced wyandotte, partridge cochin, and a barred rock (among a few others) as well and I was curious as to what they looked like as babies and teenagers. Thanks for posting! Btw, where did you get them?

Thanks Snazzy & Mallory!

Mallory - most came from Ideal Hatchery. The Welsummers came from a breeder in CT (think she got them from Welp) and the 4 new silkies came from a breeder in CT, though their skin coloring is off (notice Sammy has yellow skin!). We went for 2 whites and would have come home with all the baby silkies they had if we had the cash - the house was full of smoke. Yuck! Anyway, so we came with 2 extras (Splash & Bliss!). Hoping for some girls from the 6 silkies we have!

Enjoy yours! I'm posting these pics bc i have found it a bit difficult to find pics of age progression as well. It sure has been fun!! Taking pics of each individually is a fun way to get to know the birds too

especially the more shy ones that don't run forward when we visit the brooder...

Quote:
Oh ok I'm getting mine from Meyer, I'm just getting six, though from what I've heard chicken math is a very contagious disease, so...
Aw poor silkies! I hope the don't get sick from the smoke! It's good you got some of them, at least they are out of that situation.
Thanks and good luck with yours too! I am going to take lots of pictures too, their fuzz goes away so fast!
