chick problem, need some help

My chick hatched about 3:30 this afternoon, and it's backside/belly was really big. Since it came from a big egg I assumed that it hadn't completely absorbed it's yolk sac, but everything seemed enclosed so I didn't worry much. Now though there is some blood coming from the area and a red string like thing. What's wrong with her? Can I help? She is still a little wet, and in the incubator. Please let me know what to do!

If everything is closed up .... no hole ... she should be fine. Just leave her in the incubator to keep warm and quiet. It should look better in a few hours, or tomorrow. Keep us updated.

I agree - sometimes that happens but it usually dries up just fine. Let it get dry and fluffy before you take her out and she should be ok.

Thank you. The bleeding does seem to have stopped now. As long as it doesn't start up again, everything's OK right?

Yep - and once you get it into the brooder, it'll dry up quickly.
