Chick Shortage???

    I was looking at Ideal the other day and all of their chicks were sold out some till 2010!!!! Whats up?

    Apparently, the "green" movement and self-sufficiency movement have a lot to do with the chick shortage. A lot of people are buying chicks due to the economy.

    everything sold out near me in so cal. have to wait until June to get my peeps:(

    I'm looking at silkies and they are sold out as far out on the ship date thingy as they can.

    this was on their site: "We are currently sold out of all st. runs and pullets until June 3rd and Bantams until April 29th.
    We do have males of most breeds, Ducks, Geese and Turkeys available.

    i ordered silkies assortment st.runs from ideal today and got my notice they are shipping early may - which is OK with my brooding schedule. I have to move my RIR's and Golden comets out by then.

    My local feedstore told me that they can't order any chicks until
    after May 18th, because they are sold out.
    Good thing that I'm hatching my own.
