I was wondering if my Maple is the right size. She seems so small to me. I don't remember the other girls being this small.

Maple is a Speckled Sussex and a week old today. She is sleeping in the second photo.

Before my neck surgery I was 5'10" and I'm now 5'8" and a half. I'm sitting on the kitchen floor with my babies. [IMG]

I wouldn't think so. The guy knew a lot about the chicks and personalities. It was clearly labeled speckled Sussex hens. They are sexed hens too, so a good chance it's a she.

Silkie lover has the right idea... hens are usually the smaller out of the bunch. that's not always the case though. i wouldnt be worried about a thing![IMG]

Okay good. [IMG]. I just noticed her wing feathers had doubled in size just in 2 short days. She must be growing! Hubby and I moved them into a bigger brooder late last night. Now she can get the heat while the others can get away from it. [IMG]

If its any consolation, my SS was super tiny too --- she is now 3 weeks old and still the smallest, but doing a good job and playing catch-up [IMG]
