This is my 2nd time raising new chicks. I have a Pearl Star Leghorn who is not doing well. She is about 1 week old, from a feed store. She was fine the first few days then yesterday she became very lame. Unable to walk or stand. I’ve been feeding her an egg yolk, VERY weak green tea, and honey. She will eat that from a small bowl sometimes, but her eyes are constantly closed (they are clean and she can open them). She also sometimes shakes her head. She’ll put her chin to chest and rub her head back and forth and also kick/scratch at the sides of her head. She also chirps while doing this. After feeding her she seems to have enough energy to make it to the water(with save-a-chick) and she is not interested in the crumbles we offer, which are also medicated.
We have 7 other chicks and they are all happy and healthy and running amok in the brooder box.
Also, the other Pearl Star Leghorn we have from the same store seems fine, but has a tendency to keep her eyes closed as well. I will try to attach pictures or video of the ‘seizure’. I’m not sure what else to call it.

Doesn’t sound too good. Seems like she may have something wrong inside of her. I just had 2 brand new chicks die (one on its first day and one about 5 days old). The first one did that for about an hour or two before it died. The other one started out perfectly fine and then kept declining the longer it lived until it died. I’m just not sure if they can be helped or not.😔

Unfortunately she didn’t make it. She started to gasp and I knew the inevitable had reached us. We sat outside in the sun for a few minutes before she passed. At least she got to feel the sun on her feathers. 😔

She was loved. I hate situations like this where there is literally nothing you can do except make sure they know they were loved.😔
