chick with "sticky eye"

Hello!

I have a 4 day old chick who has one eye that keeps closing. When I get it open with a warm wet towel some clear fluid comes out. With my other animals I usually just clean it out and then wipe a small "swipe" of antibiotic ointment over the eye.(whether open or closed to get rid of the infection)
Any ideas? THANKS!

You can try using the antibiotic on the chick, but unlike other animals its usually not just a simple eye infection but a symptom of a more serious illness.
Can't for the life of me recall which illness it is.
