Chick with Strange Black Mark(scab?) on It’s Head

My hen recently hatched two babies(one didn’t make it ) and the one that did was born with a weird mark on it’s face. It almost looks charred. It is dark black and has the texture of a scab or burn. I put ointment on it to see if it would make it better but it hasn’t done much. What could this be? I can’t find any pictures on Google that fit. Thank you!

It has spread to the other side of its head and further down the other side. These are the best pictures I could get

Are you sure it's not a glob of poop that got stuck on its face? Doesn't look like an injury.

That’s what I thought it was at first, too! Then I started trying to rub it off and it came off in weird tiny pieces. It’s gone down from its head to its body now. I’m going to try to get some closer up pictures today! I noticed that the mama hen kept pecking it in that spot, too.
