Chicken Acting Wierd..

I have a cuckoo Marans she is 9 weeks old, she is very big and a real doll, but last night when I was in checking on them I leaned over and petted her and she layed down almost flat. She acted fine nothing is wrong but if I pet her back she flattens,, what is she doing,, Wierd,, chicken.

she's squatting the way she would for a rooster to mount

nope, my modern game bantams are just over a month old and they squat too. Some of my other breeds don't do it till they're older. I think its a reflex.

Our hens started doing that when they were pretty young; and we didn't have roosters for a long while.​
