can i feed my hens a cooked chicken carcass????
or is this not wise???
I do. They are like vicious dinos when they go at it. Lol.
They LOVE it!
I do it all the time.
I gave them my Christmas turkey carcass, and they loved it: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=612686
I make lots of soup stock, so the chickens get chicken carcasses, pork neck bones, turkey carcasses etc- they will pick the carcasses clean!
Thanks everyone for your replies......
They absolutely loved it....
I think the next time I give them a carcass I will definitely hang it up.....
It may last a little longer......lolllll
yes, hang up the turkey from Thanksgiving...and get the camera ready!
By the way, it doesn't have to be cooked.
Unless it's a processed bird from your own closed flock, I recommend cooking any poultry before offering it to chickens, as otherwise it could be a disease vector (to your birds).
