Chicken coop design - keeping chickens directly on the ground??

I'm building an A-frame chicken coop and I am planning to have it directly on the ground. Is this a good idea?? because eventually it will become full of chicken poop. I intended not to have it on wheels as it will be very heavy to move around.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If you don't overstock it there won't be a problem with the poop. All of my chickens are on the ground and I don't have any issues b/c I don't crowd them in.

The only thing is that you'll need to have it well predatorproofed (e.g. with a wire apron on the ground), so that nothing can dig in under the walls and eat your chickens.

Frankly if you are going to leave it in one place forever (or more or less forever), I'd personally put a couple big concrete pavers under the coop portion, so at least *that* is secure at night. With bedding atop the pavers of course.

JMO, good luck, have fun,

Pat
