I received a batch of Silkie babies from a friend when I started my chicken adventure. My male Roo is a black satin naked neck with gold streamers and pretty blue / green tail feathers. I have a range of females, but I would like more naked necks. I have one hen that is a satin blue splash, and several other fluffy and fully feathered silkies (all variations of white). Is it possible to get a white naked neck fluffy silkie? Would the two naked necks always produce blue and black naked necks?

I'm not an expert at all on this, but I would think you can't- unless you had some white in some of the genes.

I have 3 white silkies, but they are not naked necks. I'm wondering if both have to be naked, to produce a naked. And how do you determine the feather type?

I just took a college course on genetics and did terribly. lol.

I think for the nakeds, you have a bigger chance getting a naked if both the rooster and hen are naked necks- however I've seen people with just a naked neck ROOSTER make naked neck chicks.

Depends if they are NN or Nn. Do they have a bow tie? If so you will get 50% Nn chicks.

It's a dominant gene so as long as one parent has it it can be passed. However, if he only has one copy of the gene it's a 50/50 chance. I have hatched out around 10 chicks from my NN female and only have 2 naked neck chicks
