Chicken grooming

I have a crossed/twisted beak Polish pullet. I have been hand-feeding her every morning with baby chick food with a syringe. She also eats on her own from a deep dish. I grind up in a food processor a mixture of grains, tofu, vegetables, wheat grass and water. (She seems to be thriving.) All this food has gotten on her face, breast and head. I tried to wipe food off her "mohawk" with a wet towel, and now her feathers are all stiff. Any suggestions for grooming a Polish chicken's topknot?
