Hello all.

Today I noticed my 6 month old (estimated age, I am unsure of her exact age) Ameraucana pullet has what appears to be some sort of abscess or stye on her upper eyelid. The affected eye also appears to be foamy. Her other eye is clear and unaffected. She doesn't seem to be showing any signs of discomfort or displaying any irregular behaviors.

I have looked at different examples of bumble-eye and impacted feather follicle cysts, but that doesn't seem to be the issue here. I am wondering if maybe one of her sisters pecked and injured her eye as it appears to be a bit scabby.

Please let me know if any of y'all have seen/experienced anything similar, and if so what you did to remedy it. Thank you!

I forgot to mention that she has not yet begun to lay, so there is no indication that this has impacted that.

Has it been warm and do you have mosquitoes out now, which could cause fowl pox? I would flush the eye twice a day with saline or an eye wash such as Eye Relief Eye wash by Bausch and Lomb. Then apply a small dab of antibiotic ointment such as Terramycin or plain Neosporin/Triple Antibiotic into the eye twice daily.
