Looks like a classic case of BUMBLEFOOT. Do a search here on the forum for bumblefoot and I'm sure you'll find a wealth of information. You need to tackle that asap!

I looked it up it doesn't look like bumble foot. It looks like one of her nails broke off. Everything I looked up about bumble foot looks like it's on the pads not the toes.

I'm no expert, but to me it does, in fact, look like bumblefoot. Why? Because of that black "core" thingie....could be wrong, tho!

Lobsterman, it looks like frostbite has taken the tip of the toe off.  The remainder of the toe will look swollen or clubbed for ahwile after it happens.  This probably happened back in winter.  I saw this for the first time in a rooster of mine this year.  Here are a couple of threads with frostbite on toes to look at pictures:

thanks a lot for this. I'm pretty sure her nail ripped out though. I looked again and that wasn't a great picture. Her toe was bleeding like it was ripped out. Maybe because her nails are too long. I only got my chickens a month ago from someone who couldn't keep them anymore and they were fine then. Still learning a lot. I soaked her toe and put antiseptic spray on it and am continuing treatment I'll let you know how things go.
