I'm not too sure how old my chicken is but she was very young when we got her, I am guessing she might be some where from 5-10 weeks old? I have just noticed over the past couple of days that she has been making some different sounds, it almost sounds like a croaky lower toned sound. My 2 year old boy thought there was a duck in our garden. I also noticed that she's been staying in the same spot for longer periods of time, where as a little while ago she would be every where in our garden.

Does this kind of behavior have anything to do with her readiness to lay eggs? or is this a common development of all chickens? [IMG]

yeah, shes ready to lay eggs. they get weird and make crazy noises and lay on one spot for countless hours.

    no harm, no foul.

    just enjoy it.

The OP stated this bird is 5-10 weeks old, so I seriously doubt its anywhere close to laying eggs. [IMG]
