chicken kicking straw out???

I have a hen that is going in anothers coop and kicking all their straw out.... why?

She's doing her version of decorating.

Scratching is instinctive behavior and it's a version of scratching. Plus she's a hen so she's just innately ornery.

She must be looking for that extra food that she knows you stash for the other's!

All joking aside, she's just doing what she's meant to do. Scratch!

Yeah, mine do that to the ducks nests all the time. I rigged their coop so they can't kick all the straw out. One of them though, goes into the nest boxes every day and throws out every last piece of straw.
