chicken kicking straw out???

    I have a hen that is going in anothers coop and kicking all their straw out.... why?

    Scratching is instinctive behavior and it's a version of scratching. Plus she's a hen so she's just innately ornery.

    She must be looking for that extra food that she knows you stash for the other's! [​IMG]

    All joking aside, she's just doing what she's meant to do. Scratch!

    Yeah, mine do that to the ducks nests all the time. I rigged their coop so they can't kick all the straw out. One of them though, goes into the nest boxes every day and throws out every last piece of straw. :mad:
