I found a fertile egg that my silkie has been sitting on for over two weeks, cold and alone on the coop floor. She had not been sitting on it for about four hours max. Will it still hatch? I put it back under her and she has been on it since. I candled it and saw no movement whatsoever, i have previously still it wiggle, though i don't know how common this is.
Any advice is appreciated. It is due to hatch in the next two to three days, so it would be really sad to lose it at this point!

The eggs should be just fine!

I cracked the egg as it had gone past it's due date, found an almost fully formed chick dead inside. Why does this happen sometimes? Third time it has happened to us. Am I candling too much? Could it be inferior eggs in some way? Bedding too dirty? Coop too hot? Any ideas?
