Chicken Life-expectancy

How old do layer chickens typically live? I know egg production drops off after about three.

A well cared for chicken can live to 25. But 10 is pretty good. Ducks can live to be maybe 25 or 30. A goose may live to 40 or more, but the oldest was 101!! Amazing huh!!!!!

Chickens can live for a good long time, but they are so prone to predators and disease that they often don't. My oldest hen was 13 when she died of "natural causes" (died suddenly with no signs of illness).

EDIT: I should probably add that, at the age of 13, she was still laying the occasional egg.
