I was sitting out back in the plastic Chicken Viewing chair as the girls were puttering around. Then I felt a little "bump" behind me; one of our ugly little sex-links, Ginger, had jumped up onto the back of the chair. She tiptoed to the arm, settled her fluffy butt down and snuggled me for a few minutes as I petted her. If she were a cat, she would have purred. It was my first experience with chicken love. What a sweet girl! [IMG]

Isn't it just sweet when one of 'em initiates a surprise move like that? I have a Cuckoo Marans who hops to my knee when I'm in the Chicken Viewing Chair, too. Then she tells me ALL sorts of chicken stories I haven't a clue what she's talking about. But I always encourage her. She will pause, I'll say something in an interrogative tone, and she'll go on a little bit more.

My Black Australorp Matilda is insatiably curious and will follow me around to see what I'm doing. She also chatters a bit, but not as much as Bernadette.

My drake Cayuga gives me duck hickies on my forearms, billing me for attention.
