A big hello to all you helpful people out there! I finally joined BYC even though I have been a lurker for two years. I have gotten so much wonderful information from this site that I thought it was about time that I joined!
I only have four chickens because we live within city limits. We have a 4' x 8' hen house with a covered run that is 6' x 24' plus we fenced off about a half acre for supervised free-ranging so our chickens have it pretty good. They are pets that happen to lay eggs.
We currently have a 3 year old Columbian Wyandotte, Lucy, a 1 1/2 year old Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, Mabel, and are in the process of integrating in a 3 month old Cuckoo Marans, Sophie, and a 3 month old Delaware, Alice. Mabel doesn't really care about the new girls. The one we are worried about is Lucy so we are taking her introduction really slowly. They are only meeting Lucy through a fence and have their own small coop set up in the run for now.
I know I will continue to learn through others' experiences but hope to now help by posting a bit on what has worked for me.
    Thanks all!

Welcome to BYC. Your doing a great job on integrating the two flocks. We had a Silver Laced Wyandotte last year that we finally had to give away to a place that had wide open space. We do have a large coop and 10x20 run along with the backyard to free range in. Geraldene our Wyandotte would not let any of the other chickens on the roost. If she couldn't body slam them off the roost then she would push her head under them until she could flip them off the roost. She was fine until night time and they all went in the coop. there was plenty of room to roost, 12' of roost for 8 chicks at the time. She was the sweetest girl to people but a snot to the other chicks. Now she has a tree outside to roost in at her new place. All of our chicks are pets also.

It sounds like you have a nice little flock! I have a Columbian Wyandotte, too, and have really enjoyed her.[IMG] I hope the flock integration goes well- it can sometimes be tricky.
