so I just set my second clutch of eggs in the incubator on April 1. I've already hatched 22 Chicks this year to help replenish my flock as my current 20 hens just turned a year old and i want a steady egg production. but it gets better. yesterday i went to the feed store and they had left over chicks from easter 26 assorted pullets and 16 straight run white leghorns. a of course i bought them and for taking all 42 they only charged my for 35 of them at 90 cents a piece!! gret deal. then last night i candled my eggs in my incubator, i don't want to count my chickens before they hatch but i have 36 thriving/developing chicks with only a week to go. so my goal of having about 10 extra pullets this year has become 38 straight run, 26 assorted pullets and 36 developing eggs in an incubator!! Curse you chicken math!!!
Hope your coop can accommodate that many chickens...'cuz otherwise, you'll be building yourself a new coop...better start now! Congrads on the babies!
