It's all kind of a blur....About a month ago, I was wanting to get some chickens, but didn't have a coop, a pen or anything more than a want to. All of a sudden, I found myself with 3 Black Cochins. I made a makeshift home for them while I scrounged materials for a coop. In the mean time I started reading about home made incubators and hatching your own chicks. All of a sudden, I had ordered a dozen hatching eggs and had to build an incubator before they got here. Are we starting to see a pattern here? Everything was going good and we all seemed to be happy. All of a sudden, I was coming home today with 2 Barred Rock pullets! HELP!!! Somebody make me stop!
It sounds like it is time for a Chickens Anonymous meeting. I have 24 chickens when I have no real need for more than 4. I have spent a fortune on a new coop and vet bills over the last year. My DH is holding his tongue (mostly). Good luck.
Quote:If that's the case, I am in a lot of trouble. i am taking your credit cards n your keys n block your pc from web page that sell chicks, eggs n chickens lol
I'm sorry, but I'm not seeing any problem. Did I miss something? 3+2 = 5, nothing wrong with that. and of course you should never count your eggs before they hatch; those dozen eggs are uncountable, so you are fine!
You're in good company here, we're all a bunch of enablers. If you want someone to help you stop you're in the wrong place
I'm so glad I'm not alone!!! I had chicks in my bathtub for 4 months, while I figured out what kind of coop to build!! My family thought I was nuts! Seriously, I am...who in their right mind would keep 3 - 4 month old chickens in their bathtub?? We had a local chicken meetup, and my husband got me out of bed, the night before, to watch the chicken hoarding episode on Animal Planet. That was his sweet way of telling me that I had better not bring home ANYTHING!!
