I am a chicken newbie....my husband and I are planning on getting our first chickens this spring...i would love to have a few Bantams and regular chickens...is it safe to house them together? I've heard mixed reviews : (

It all depends if you plan on breeding (getting a rooster) normally a standard size rooster is to large for some of the smaller bantams, In my main pen I run a variety of different breeds because they are so much fun but I never plan on breeding any of them bantams to standards or standards to bantams....so many to choose from and so lovely to look at! just enjoy!

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan :D

Apart from breeding issues, if they are raised together they usually do fine.

I raise mine together. My itty bitty Serama rooster somehow manages to fertilize my Brahma's eggs lol. Otherwise they get along fairly well though bantams are known to be a bit spunky. Welcome btw!

Hello and welcome to BYC [IMG] I've got a few different breeds, standards and 5 bantams, all living together fine. The bantams got bullied a bit at first because they came after the standards, but they get along now.
