Howdy folks! I received my first set of babies from my pet chicken on October 1st. They are so much fun and they grow so fast! I'm excited but nervous about them going to the big coop outside but I have a few weeks for that, I know! I am currently building the coop run for them and I hope I never have to face the ordeal of predators! I am excited about learning in this forum and greatful it is here for questions I may have.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
If you use 1/2" hardware cloth to cover all openings and enclose the run, put a solid roof on the run, install a predator apron around the works and make certain there are no openings larger than 1/2" into your setup, you will likely be just fine. If you have larger predators in your area like bears, mountain lions or bobcats, you might want to consider containing everything within electric fencing. I did but I'm paranoid! The only losses to predators I've had is when the chickens escaped the confines of their electro-netted pen.
Good luck with your coop build.
