Completely legal to shoot a loose dog on your property, especially if the safety of your property was in question.

I have killed dogs, also been under threat from one. Never had firearm in hand when threatened by dog.

    Why ask what others think?

You take a gun with you to treat your dog and lock up your flock?

no. i went back in to get it. the animal had plenty of time to leave when i went in the house. i did not get a chance to secure the flock or give the dog his treat. it came at me as soon as i starting walking over to my dog.
