Chicken pecked out my contact lens out of my eye

No point to the story other than to share a quick laugh.

One of the 7 week d austrolorps was on my shoulder and when I wasn't paying attention she pecked right into my eye. Went all blurry for a second and I'm thinking "damn! Injured my eye" but then realized she actually pecked out my lens. Girlfriend and I searched all over and couldn't find it and she didn't eat it so hopefully they don't find it in the dirt but ouch that son of a gun hurt. Wearing glasses around them from now on I guess

I've known a lot of people who've got pecked in the eye because they carried a chicken near their face or on their shoulder. One could permanently damage your eye or even blind you if they can break the skin or bruise you.Just because they like you doesn't mean they can't hurt you.I have been bruised on my legs when they pecked me.I don't have a rooster that could make it worse.

Your goal was accomplished; I got a quick chuckle out of your reaction, which would have been mine, too. Glad you're not blinded, and hopefully, no one eats the lens.

Maybe you should consider safety glasses, just in case .

This is one of the reasons to never let a chicken onto your shoulder.

The other is that the dominant bird in the flock perches the highest so it's important when managing birds to always keep your eyes higher than your birds' eyes.
