Chicken Saddles

    I see some people use them for there chickens when they are laying but would like to know the absolute purpose for them.

    I think it's less to do with laying than being bred.

    It protects their backs if the rooster is overzealous in breeding.

    How exactly are they fitted and how do you pick the correct size for your hen.

    Saddles are for over-bred hens, molting hens (sometimes even roosters!), and people who want to say they dress up their chickens tiny bad dogs. [​IMG] I'm keeping it on my girl because I may possibley want to show her at he fair in June, and I'd like to keep her as clean as possible.
