I live in southwest Montana and would LOVE to be able to plant some greenery in my run. I have plans to "cute it up" as much as I can with decorative stakes and other yard decorations, but I would really love to plant some bushes or flowers that would survive my chickens! We currently have 57 standards in a run that is about 1500 sq ft or so. We just planted three apple trees to help provide some shade eventually, but does anyone know of anything that will grow in the northwest that may provide that shade a little faster? Any thoughts on aspens or other poplars? Also, any flowers that could survive? I would love the color!
