Chicken school!

Today i taught my ayams to eat watermelon. Yes a small thing i know but they trusted me enough to try it and although they were unsure at first the still tryed and then enjoyed it. The satisfaction & sense of achievement i got from this was immeasurable! Ridiculous really but true nevertheless. I also have them semi whistle trained and will come to me and follow me when i whistle at them. What have you taught yours and how did you do it. Im half tempted to leash train my ayam cock as he cant be used for breeding due to wry tail that i think was brought on by stress of a new male owner as former was female he also wasnt in with the hens he is with now ( too young to mate yet) it took 2 weeks before he would let me anywhere near him but now I'm his buddy lol and he will happily eat from my hand.

What have you taught yours and how did you do it.

I taught all of my chickens to come running when I call "Yummies!" They know that means food, so they come every time.
I taught them to come by always saying "Yummies!" every time I gave them food.

Similar here is good because although the come to see me when im around the area they are in they dont reall follow me away when i leave but if i whistle they will follow me anywhere.

seriously - I don't think you taught them to eat watermelon, mine will peck anything I put on the ground. They love watermelon. The only thing mine won't eat is potato peelings ...

Mine are terrified of We placed our roo on the watermelon, to try and show him it was alright, and he screamed like a girl and ran We also tried to hand feed them, but they still won't take it. They love other scraps from our garden, mealworms, and mice. They always pay attention when I go out back, but they come running when I call, "here chickadee!"
