Hi all, one of my 6 week old Ameraucana chicks got herself stuck to a fly ribbon. We got it off but what can we use to get the goo off? She had a nice warm bath with a little dawn & I rubbed some coconut oil on her. I’m letting her rest for now but what can I use to get the rest of the goo off?

Well I just had the fly paper stuck to one of my chickens today. I remembered reading that oil takes off sticky stuff, and I have used it in the past for sticky residue from labels. I used it to get the fly paper gunk off my hands and it worked. So I took her into the enclosed back porch, got her all unstuck, and then my husband doled out oil for me to rub into her sticky feathers. Then I gave her a bath in Dawn. I dried her up as best I could with a towel. I didn't want to use a blow dryer. And it's been pretty warm today, so I figure she'll air dry, and cool off too from the evaporation. She was pretty good throughout the whole process, only struggled briefly twice. So hopefully tomorrow she'll look pretty good after she's all dry.
And I took some gardening wire and tied up the remaining fly paper really well so it won't come loose.
