Chicken Swallows

    Some of my hens randomly open their mouths and swallow. This is not telated to eating or drinking. Anyone else experience this behavior?

    They are probably yawning. It kinda looks like swallowing, but if you watch them while they eat you'll see they kind of "wiggle ([​IMG]) their beak. It's hard to describe.

    Chickens do that move to adjust their crop or the content of it, it is quite normal.

    It looks like they are yawning (it's called 'gaping' in birds) and are moving their heads/necks around at the same time.
