Chicken Tongue Brown Band or Odd Color

Hi all,

So with recent heat waves in my area (90-98) my chickens have been getting hot and panting unfortunately. With that today I was looking at one of my ladies giving them fresh cold water and noticed while she was panting that she had something on her tongue. Anyone seen this before? She’s just started laying for the first time and with the heat everyone has been eating but not as much as they used too, I wanted to make sure nothings wrong. Any advice or opinions on the tongue would be appreciated, thanks! (See pictures)

Never seen anything like that before. Could it be a piece of food?
Gather her up and have someone hold her while you examine inside her beak and investigate that more.

Turns out it was a piece of food I was concerned because we had a heat wave and was worried it was something to do with the continual panting to keep cool. Thank you for your reply.
