Over 6 weeks ago my daughter finally talked my wife into getting chickens. I've been wanting to do a Chicken Tractor for a while anyway, so we found somebody on Craigslist with baby chicks (supposedly all female) and brought four home. I've finished the tractor just in time to move them in.

One of the chicks is definitely a boy, so we'll be having a nice fresh dinner when he starts to crow.

Nice work!! You should be proud of yourself. How I wish I knew someone near us that could build us a coop like that 👍

I put this on the coop page, but I'll also note here that the wheel lifts are really nicely balanced, but the 2x4s for them are not strong enough. I'm going to try 2x6s with metal mending plates, but if that doesn't work I'll go with an all metal kit (maybe this one)

Probably strong enough, but if they were longer it would make them easier to lever up.
Weak points in wheel assemblies is usually the pivot points, hard to get them tight so shafts and bushings stay in line.

Both of mine split at that pivot point, but they were helped along by the pockets I drilled for bearings. The new lever is 2x6, no bearings, with mending plates all around. 🤞
