I'm just starting with a <chicken tractor> and six 5-week old chicks. I have a gallon water jug inside the coop and another gallon outside in the <run>. In the PM, I plan on letting the chicks free roam on our open field around the house. I understand chicks will roam several hundred feet from the tractor. I concerned what the chicks will do for drinking water. There are no streams or any other source of water except at the <chicken tractor>. Will they return to it when the want water?

Thanks.
Ken

They probably will, but just to be on the safe side, I would spread a couple of waterers around the field.

They will return for water. In fact you want them to think of it as home. For only an hour or two in the evening with cool weather they may not need to drink at all. Mine don't.
