chicken walking backwards

    One of our leghorns, Sopie, walks backwards after she dust bathes. But she's normal the rest of the time. I've known for a while she has done this but she only does it when she's still packed with dirt from her bath. She's the youngest leghorn, she's starting to mature.

    I think it's the weight of the packed dirt that's making her walk backwards. My silkie walks like she's drunk after a dust bath, I think I've seen my other hens walk backwards too. :)

    They do love their bathes & they do seem like they're drunk after. Not sure what it is, maybe the weight of the dirt or just "heaven" for them. It's funny to watch.

    My mom doesn't want to eat her eggs when because of this. Are the eggs really affected?

    I would like to get some electrolytes for all of them. She only does it when she's caked with dirt though.
