I have a chicken who has started to lay eggs, but I have recently noticed that her butt is starting to get lower to the ground, but she is all over the place happy and eating no problems. Tonight I picked her up and she is really heavy and her back end is very squishy and soft. I tried to see if there are any eggs in there but everything is soft. I am not sure what to do. Does anyone have any idea what it might be??
Thanks for any help, she is a real sweetie.

Does not sound good; sorry. Maybe internal layer or eggbound. You could try soaking her in warm water.

find a avian vet in your area. If you can't find one call first state vet supply aka the chicken doctor. you can look him up on-line
