Hi all, I need some help figuring out what’s going on here. Yesterday I noticed that my Australorp had a very red vent area, it appeared that the inner area was protruding a bit. It seemed a little bloody...although not so much bloody as just red and irritated. Totally not the case today. Today she is bleeding from what appears to be just inside (around the edges of the inside) of her vent area. Also, there’s a line of poop that has streamed down out of her vent that she’s constantly preening or trying to clean. I’ll post a pic bc I think that’ll help a lot, as it’s hard to describe what I’m seeing!
She is eating, drinking, foraging and appears “ok” but she definitely has something wrong. No idea if she’d laid yet today but I believe she did yesterday and know for a fact she laid an egg on Thursday. She just turned one year old. I’m going to go in and clean her up but I have NO idea what else to do. I’ll likely apply blu-kote too. Please help if you can!!! Thank you!!!

UPDATE: I cleaned her up and painted her blue 😆 It appears that the inside of her vent is a little bruised and she has a cut (with clots) on one side of her cloaca. The cut is towards the outer rim...and she is able to get to it, so I’m sure she’s irritating the area. I was trying to determine if the blood was coming from internally or from a cut which would help eliminate certain issues. Although it appears that the blood is not coming from internally, I can’t be 100% sure. Not sure why she is “leaking” poop....That’s concerning to me. From what I can in doing research online, this is likely a prolapsed vent, but not severe. I have her inside to convalesce in semi-darkness. If you have any input as to what else this could be, please let me know.
Oh, and I used mineral oil to lube the vent area. No sugar used bc I was concerned this would attract her to the area (taste of sugar) and make her irritate it further.
