    the first batch of chickens i bought

    hhhmmmm, it is so good under the heat lamp...

    in just a few days they started to grow wings

    hey, who are the new guys?

    aaahhh, they are messy ducks [​IMG]
    [​IMG]
    the first day out
    [​IMG]
    enjoying the sun
    [​IMG]
    it is the time for a dust-bath

    in a few days the ducks grew bigger than the chickens

    it was hot, the water came just in time [​IMG]
    [​IMG]
    lazzy chickens
    [​IMG]
    sun and water=the best recipe for happy ducks
    [​IMG]
    [​IMG]
    the food momma is giving to us is good, the babies are happy
    [​IMG]
    what is this green stuff? alfalfa?

    big boys and big girls need a bigger yard

    the shade is so much appreciated

    you thought i finished? noooooo...
    i was missing the cute little yellow balls, so, here they are!!! a new batch of ducks when the first ones were one month old

    they were too many in that cage, no? ok, ok, we move out in no time
    [​IMG]
    no heat lamp for these strong girls
    [​IMG]
    less than a week and the ducks moved out, in the coop, to make room for some more chickens

    those needed a heat lamp, they are so tiny

    a few days later the ducks enjoy the outdoor life

    just to have an idea how much they grow in one month, look at the difference between the first batch and the second

    it was the time for the chickens to come outside too
    [​IMG]
    the younger ducks had to join the flock
    [​IMG]
    drilling for oil [​IMG]
    [​IMG]
    no problems in paradise

    the big girls, when they were about 2 months old

    big enough to butcher, no? oooo, yeah...
    [​IMG]
    well, for two months we took care of them, now it is the time they will take care of us
    [​IMG]

    [​IMG]
    those were the first 4 ducks that we butchered, from the first batch. up to the end, everybody went in the freezer camp

    this is my chest freezer. my daughter has an other one as full as mine. pretty good, for 3 months of hard work. i'm happy with the result. i dont have to buy chickens or ducks for one year.

    Please understand that I mean NO disrespect , and I Totally enjoyed the pics of the baby chicks and ducks along with the cute narratives ,

    However , I did Not really enjoy the Pics at the End of the post , as I feel maybe a " Warning " sentence might have been in good order

    After your initial subject title in the index , or possibly your post could have gone under the " Meat Birds " Thread.

    I'm just a bit concerned that a young child might view the post , ( either with or without an Unsuspecting adult with them ), and when

    Scroll down to last pics , they might get upset.

    You know how children are , they can " Fall in love " with looking at just

    A few pics of cute duckies and chicks.

    Again , please understand that I mean No disrespect.

    I mean NO disrespect either, but agree completely that there should have been some kind of warning. I was so enjoying the photos of the chicks and their progress and the fun they were having, but my heart sank down into my Keds when I saw the first "butcher" pic. I'm 47 years old, not a young child, and it upset me.

    Again, great pics of the babies, and no disrespect intended.​

    i dont mind if the topic is moved to the meat birds thread. i meant no disrespect either, i was so excited to show you my pictures, that i forgot that there are big diferences between our cultures. i apologize.

    Those ducks sure look yummy. I have never processed duck, just process extra roosters. Those ducks look so plump.

    For the more sensitive viewers you can edit your title and/or first post to include statement that ducks are dressed for dinner.
