Does anyone house chickens and goats in the same barn but in separate areas? I would love to see pics for inspiration. I am closing on a house this week with two barns. One barn will be for the horses I have but my daughter wants goats and I want to get chickens again. The small barn is 30x18 . If anyone has pics or ideas. I really don't have the money for another barn or shelter right now. They will each have their own pen area.

No pictures, sorry.

When I was a kid, we had a bunch of RIR roosters, and for some reason (I don't remember why) I decided to dump all of the boys in the goat pen. Because the fencing was trying to be goat tight (though if you threw a bucket of water at it, the water still went through) the roosters didn't bother trying to get out and lived with the goats until we butchered them a year later. (They were not tasty.)

They got along well. They'd return from pasture, single-file through the tall grass, roosters mixed right in with the goats. We never had any problems.

If you manage it right, the goat pasture can also be the chicken run. Definitely make sure your goats can't access the nest boxes though--they will sit on them until they fall off of the wall.
