Will suet hurt my chickens? I had a large box of suet given to me by a friend who was moving. I figured that if I was going to feed suet to a bird it might as well be my girls instead of wild birds. I don't think it would hurt them since it doesn't harm wild birds but wanted to check on here before I give it to them.

When it's really cold out I give it to my chickens. As long as you don't give it to them everyday. They love it!

Thanks. I figure with the high fat content of the suet, I could give it to them once a week.

I understand chickens are one of the few livestock that do well eating fat, because of their high metabolisms. I've never tried it myself, but once a week is probably okay.
